The "BirdLife" watchtower
This is the second project from one semester. We visited a swampy regional area of northern, New Jersey. After a site analysis, this design was born for the assigned program of a bird-watching tower and a bird aviary at this regional estuary. Option to design both together or separately was given and I proceeded to design them separately. Due to time, only the watch tower came to life. This bird watch tower will serve as a take-off point by canoe or zipline to the aviary in the center of the water marsh. Materials used include corten steel panels and structural steel on piles. This tower can be on the partial edge of water and land or one or the other. Still to be determined.
